Bye Coach

So people here in my school don't really react much to anything. When it's halloween, you might see one or two people dressed up in costumes. When it's St. Patrick's day, you see a couple of people wearing green, but no one makes a big deal about it.
But today we lost our basketball coach and man... people are pissed. Everywhere I go today everyone is talking about Calipari leaving. The front page of the school newspaper reads 'Calipari officially DEAD to Memphis.'
The guy has been here for the past 9 years and now has taken a position in Kentucky. It's cool, they offered him more money, we can all understand that. But the school matched the offer and he refused. He's spent the past two months telling us that he's not going anywhere and even gave a lecture a couple of weeks ago about changing the odds and how the tigers were going to succeed.
And today he announced he was leaving and not only that, but he's taking at least two of our best players and the new recruits for next year.

Now... I've never been one for basketball, nor was I ever involved in much school spirit. But man, this pissed me off. He lied to all of us saying he'd stay and has been talking about Tiger pride since day one.
If you come to school here you can see how much people really support basketball and how proud they are of them. People might not care about any other event or things going on on campus, but they care about the tigers. Same goes with people around Memphis, like my mom who was never cared about sports, watches the games and screams as if she was the mom of one of the players. So it's sad that the one person who was helping us bring our team up and talked endlessly about unity is leaving us like that.
I guess I can understand his reasons, but that doesn't mean that I have to support it or agree with him.
